I write books and journalism, contributing to titles including the FT, The Times, Apollo, the TLS, BBC Culture, The Gentlewoman & The Telegraph. My book about the Edwardian painter Mabel Nicholson came out in 2024 and I recently finished another about Marie Antoinette’s favourite portraitist, Élisabeth Vigée Le Brun, for the National Gallery.

Between 2003 and 2022 I worked at The Telegraph, where I was visual arts editor, and before that for a modern & impressionist art dealer.
