About
I write books and journalism, contributing to The FT, The Times, BBC Culture, The Gentlewoman, Apollo, The Telegraph, World of Interiors and the TLS. My book about the Edwardian painter Mabel Nicholson came out last year and I’ve just finished a biography of Marie Antoinette’s favourite portraitist, Élisabeth Vigée Le Brun, for the National Gallery.
I also work with museums, galleries and individual artists and photographers on exhibition texts, book forewords and digital content. I cut and edit manuscripts for both authors and publishers.
Between 2003 and 2022 I worked at The Telegraph, where I was visual arts editor and a features writer, and before that for a Modern and Impressionist art dealer.
